Parmigiani adopts the Bubble Tag™
In order to fight against counterfeiters, we have reinforced the guarantee provided to our customers, with a simple system.
Parmigiani manufactures around 5,000 prestige watches a year, of which more than half retail for more than CHF 100,000, so it is understandable that the origin of products of this quality need to be certified beyond doubt. At the time of purchase, the customer receives a guarantee card, in the form of a credit card on which is printed the watch’s serial number with an integrated Prooftag Bubble Tag™, which is unique and non-reproducible.
A loyalty tool
“Another advantage of the system is that it enables us to create a link with our customers, who like to have this, and which sometimes gets broken during resale. In the process of authenticating, customers can not only access specific information about their watch, but also enjoy the confidential universe of the brand. The system therefore also serves as a loyalty tool, reinforcing and personalizing client relations,” added Pierre-Yves Grether.
During this presentation, Jean-Marc Jacot, the company’s CEO, also evoked the possibility of extending this protection to second-hand watches. The project aims to contain the sale of forged watches, which is especially rife on auction websites.

“In order to fight against counterfeiters, we wish to reinforce the guarantee provided to our customers, but with a simple system that requires no special electronic equipment. This is why we chose the Bubble Tag solution offered by Prooftag, with the advantage that it enables rapid authentication visible to the naked eye, without a special scanner or USB key. The customer simply has to go onto the Web (via their computer or mobile phone), enter their code and compare the bubble configuration on the screen with the one on the seal attached to the guarantee card,”
