Napa Valley - July 2009 - Château Montelena Winery chooses the Prooftag Bubble Seal™ solution to secure its bottles.
Chateau Montelena Winery, located in the Napa Valley, has chosen the Bubble Seal™ by Prooftag to assure the authenticity of its prestigious wines.
Famous for its Chardonnay’s First Place win in the famed Paris Tasting of 1976, Chateau Montelena Winery is the now 4th Californian producer to select the Bubble Seal™ by Prooftag as a security solution. The implementation of Bubble Seal™ begins with the winery’s 2007 vintage of Estate Cabernet Sauvignon. This technique assures the origin of those bottles, whose owners will be able to check the authenticity of each uniquely identified Bubble Seal™, placed on the capsule, with a simple Internet PC connection, or via mobile phone. For Chateau Montelena Winery, Prooftag has also developed new seal colors to conform to bottle packaging. More than a proof of origin for distributors, trade, and consumers, Bubble Seal™ is also a powerful marketing tool enabling a direct relationship between the winery and its customers, thanks to the convenient internet identity check feature.
About Montelena
Chateau Montelena was first established in 1882, and by 1886 it was the 7th largest winery in Napa Valley, well known for its quality. The winery had been substantially abandoned when the Barrett family acquired it in 1972 and revitalized it as one of Napa Valley’s great wine estates, celebrated for its exceptional terroir. Under the leadership of Jim Barrett Chateau Montelena Estate Cabernet Sauvignon has consistently garnered top accolades from the world’s wine experts, notable for its consistency of style and grace from year to year. Also famous for its Chardonnay, the winery’s 1973 vintage won the famous international wine tasting known as “The Judgment of Paris,” which put the Napa Valley on the map as a world-class winemaking region. In 2009, the James Beard Foundation honored the Barrett family with its prestigious Legends of Wine award, which recognizes the most influential professionals within the wine industry.
